1.11.81. Temple Chantry. Four girls from the local school were present. Alex had therefore arranged for Betty to be present also. Michael to the girls:— "You can come again, but you must study." Lunch time 3.11.81. Bell Hotel. Michael:— "You must tell that boy (Peter) there, that the man has not reported it." And to Betty:— "I will get healing for you." 4.11.81. Temple Chantry. Alex:— "I am talking to you, (Beauregarde), from behind the mountain. I am fighting the spirit in me." Spirit:— "I am the Spirit. He is fighting all — us, the West people." Alex:— "I am at the brink of insanity. Not eating! Too much smoke and drink!" Spirit:— "I have used the smoke in lieu of the pipe." (Calumet). El Hakim:— "Stay. I am Michael. He is fighting. Stay and do the Work." Quiet Trout:— "Stay and Work in the Temple for him with us." Golden Eagle:— "Stay. I am the Guardian of this Temple. Stay and continue the Initiation and Work." Beauregarde, was hard pressed at the time and thinking of leaving the area. Notes: "Calumet" is the term for a ceremonial pipe used in some Native American traditions, often called a "peace pipe." "El Hakim" is Arabic for "the wise one" or "the physician." "Quiet Trout" and "Golden Eagle" follow a naming convention common in 19th/20th-century Spiritualist mediumship, where practitioners often claimed animal-named "spirit guides." "Beauregarde" also appears in mow2407i1.jpg, described there with the same phrase — "hard pressed at the time and thinking of leaving the area" — suggesting a direct connection between the two entries. Authorship note: This document mixes the diarist's own words with Alex speaking/channelling directly. It's not always clear which parts count as 'written by' the diarist versus 'said by' Alex.
