'King Witch Calls Up The Gods At Sabbat', Herald, 8 November 1973

Cutting dated 8 November 1973 in ink at the head, a full page report of a Halloween rite in the temple at Chantry Cottage. The paper describes five candles, incense and music, John the apprentice taking a knife from the altar to cast the circle and rousing the Guardians of the Watchtowers, the priestess sprinkling water, Alex Sanders before the altar, and bread and wine passed from man to woman with a kiss. It ends that the ceremony had been conducted 'with undivided concentration, dignity and sincerity'. The foot of the page reads Special Herald report by Sarah Hicks, photos Jim Burke. The museum's list queries the paper as the Herald; an earlier numbering of the same scans calls it the Hastings Observer.
