The exhibition was presented live across three parts in August and September 2026. It is over, but every part is still available: buy all three together, or any single part on its own if you already hold the others.

The final part
December 1982 to 2008. A curse on an amateur operatic society, a death at Beltane, and a town that decided it had heard enough.
Part 3 closes the series. Julian Porter guides you through the last of the archive image by image: a fourth marriage the paper counted wrong, a curse on a Bexhill operatic production that became the best publicity the show ever had, and then Beltane 1988, the funeral, and the elders meeting to decide there would be no new king. It ends where the archive ends, in 2008, with a sign being taken down. Sharon Day hosts. Julian Porter is the curator of Bexhill Museum and chairman of the Rother Museum Group. A historian with degrees in History and Landscape Archaeology and in Museum Studies, he lectures on local subjects and leads guided walks around Bexhill for the Museum.
What Part 3 covers
Three movements, December 1982 to 2008.
Part 1 was the town waiting. Part 2 was the town arguing. Part 3 is the town losing interest, and then the archive answering back.
Movement One
The comedy
A fourth marriage the paper counted wrong, a disputed wedding, two printed corrections, and a curse on an amateur operatic production that turned into the best free publicity the show ever had.
Movement Two
The death
Beltane 1988. The funeral at Hastings. The elders meeting and carrying a unanimous motion that there was no need for a King of the Witches. Then the paper writing witchcraft out of the Old Town altogether.
Movement Three
The long tail
Bypass rituals, poll tax spells, an effigy cast into the sea at Galley Hill, a teenager going ghost-hunting, an inquest, and in 2008 a sign coming down in Manor Gardens.
The archive ends in 2008 with a sign being taken down. The exhibition ends after that.
