About this item

Photographic print, published in the Bexhill Observer on 10 November 1973 and captioned on the negative slip 'R.A.F.A Party BH 1752'. Fifteen members of the Bexhill branch of the Royal Air Forces Association are grouped for the camera around a large painted board showing a witch on a broomstick, a crescent moon, stars and a white cat. A cut out witch's hat is pinned to the wall at the top right. The paper reported the branch amid black cats, goblins and witches at their Halloween dance at the Albatross Club, and recorded that a similar dance had been held the year before. Bexhill Museum item 030a. Print from the Bexhill Observer photographic archive at Bexhill Museum. Shown in UNSEEN: The Alex Sanders Archive at Bexhill Museum, Part One, The Town That Was Already Listening (9 August 2026), presented by Julian Porter of Bexhill Museum and hosted by Sharon Day for Alexandrian Witchcraft.
