''Evil spirits' threat from glowing wood', Bexhill Observer, 9 October 1971

Bexhill Observer, 9 October 1971, in two parts, the front page report and its continuation inside. A local medium warned that anyone holding pieces of the luminous wood found at the Whydown Place Hotel should burn them at once. Mr Barry Turner, who said he had been a sensitive since an early age and specialised in spiritual healing, told the paper that the wood glowed because of the presence of evil spirits and that 'the aura of this wood is essentially evil'. He suggested that the woodland had been tainted either by ceremonies of necromancy or by killings there as far back as the Dark Ages, and advised that the whole area be burnt.
