About this item
Photograph, 23 April 1975. Close view of the floor altar arranged for the ceremony reported by the Bexhill Observer on 26 April 1975. A wand lies across a six-pointed star drawn in chalk, with a triangle chalked to the left. Around it are candlesticks, a knotted cord, an open handwritten book with a loose page of notes laid on it, and a mannequin head dressed in a headscarf. Behind stands a carved wooden chest used as the altar table. The museum lists the print as 'Altar, Chantry Cottage'. The bound book is not the ring binder seen in the 1974 and 1977 photographs.
Byline: Jimmy Burke.

Shown in UNSEEN: The Alex Sanders Archive at Bexhill Museum, Part Two, What the Town Did With It (26 August 2026), presented by Julian Porter of Bexhill Museum and hosted by Sharon Day for Alexandrian Witchcraft.
