'Churches unite in warning on witchcraft', Bexhill Observer, 3 May 1975

Bexhill Observer, 3 May 1975. Front-page report that the clergy of all denominations in Bexhill had signed an open letter to the paper on 'the twin issues of exorcism and witchcraft', following the report of 26 April. The letter, printed in full with a list of the signatories, describes witchcraft as an evil that can have 'alarming and in some cases tragic effects on people's lives', and says it is directed at witchcraft in general rather than at the local coven in particular. Photographs of four of the signatories, Canon Michael Townroe, the Rev Leslie Truelove, the Rev M. T. Stokes and Lieutenant Glenn Sealey, run alongside. Betty Britton's reply appeared on 17 May 1975.
