Bexhill Observer, 31 October 1981. The Church of Occult Science 'emphatically quashed rumours' that its Bexhill shop was a hoax. Spokesman Daniel Hussey said contracts had been exchanged and the Sackville Road premises would open on Christmas Day at 10 pm, one of a chain of twelve across the south-east, though the Church would not say where in the road for fear of legal action. He blamed the hoax rumours on a caller to a Sidcup newspaper. The report says the Church's committee discussed the Bexhill Council of Churches' letter (item 145) and decided to ignore it; the Rev Colin Garwood disputes Hussey's account of its tone.
