Bexhill Observer, 2 January 1998. Full page feature by the Bexhill freelance researcher Derek Morris marking fifty years since the death of Aleister Crowley, who died of natural causes at Netherwood House on The Ridge, Hastings, on 1 December 1947, aged 73. The page reprints the short notice the Hastings and St Leonards Observer carried on 6 December 1947, gives an account of Crowley's reputation and of the name his mother gave him, describes Netherwood House and his years there, and records his cremation at Brighton on 5 December 1947. It closes on the supposed Curse of the Three Cups. The date printed at the head of the page is 2 January 1997; the year had not been rolled over and the true date of publication is 2 January 1998.
