Bexhill Observer, 20 November 1937. A photograph of about fourteen people grouped behind a table set with cups, saucers and a tiered cake stand, flowers on either side, most of them looking towards the camera and smiling. The printed caption reads "Guild of Help refreshment staff; and (below) the Psychic Friendship Guild's party on Wednesday night." No names are given. The Psychic Friendship Guild was one of several Spiritualist and psychic groups meeting openly in Bexhill in the 1930s, alongside the Theosophists and the Christian Spiritualists, and its social evenings were reported as ordinary town news.
