About this item

Photographic print, published on 8 November 1973 with the report of the Halloween rite. Four members of the coven stand in a line in the small room, each with an arm raised. At the left a young man in a heavy patterned robe over white holds a broad bladed knife above his head; beside him a figure in white, the face hidden by a raised black sleeve, holds a slender dagger; then Alex Sanders in a plain black robe, his arms folded; and at the right a young woman in a white draped robe raising a dagger. Behind them are a fireplace, a candle in a stand and a bookcase whose spines include a volume on mythology. Byline: Jim Burke. Bexhill Museum item 056. Print from the Bexhill Observer photographic archive at Bexhill Museum. Shown in UNSEEN: The Alex Sanders Archive at Bexhill Museum, Part One, The Town That Was Already Listening (9 August 2026), presented by Julian Porter of Bexhill Museum and hosted by Sharon Day for Alexandrian Witchcraft.
