About this item
Photograph, 8 May 1974. Alex Sanders kneels in a dark robe at the altar in the temple at Chantry Cottage, holding the hands of a young woman in white who stands behind him, her face turned away. The altar stands in front of the fireplace, as it did until the following year, spread with a candle in a dish, a bowl, a dagger set upright, a white cord and a scourge, and a jug of greenery and flowers at the left. Incense smoke rises past the chimney breast. A bookcase and a stove fill the right and lower edges of the frame.
Bexhill Museum item 058. Print from the Bexhill Observer photographic archive at Bexhill Museum.
Shown in UNSEEN: The Alex Sanders Archive at Bexhill Museum, Part One, The Town That Was Already Listening (9 August 2026), presented by Julian Porter of Bexhill Museum and hosted by Sharon Day for Alexandrian Witchcraft.
