About this item
Six green index cards written in ink in June 1974, numbered Witches 1 to Witches 6. The first is headed 'Longest Day' and records that at midnight on the Saturday Alex Sanders and eight members of the coven marked the longest day of the year with a ritual. The others say that he had spent the past eight months with friends in the town, that this would be one of his last rituals in England before a two year visit to America, that the eight months in Bexhill had been the happiest of his life, that witches keep the solstice two days after the calendar date, and that the rite began with the lighting of the incense and the casting of the circle, the sprinkling of water, and the apprentice John calling the guardians of the watchtowers. They appear to be captions for a story that was never printed. The writer is unattributed and spells the name Alez throughout.
