About this item

Photograph, 11 June 1974. Alex Sanders and Betty Britton sit side by side on a banquette at the Bell Hotel, their hands together on the knife as they cut into the iced cake. The first slice has been lifted clear. The cake's top is decorated with a dark eight petalled wheel around a central monogram of two joined letters. Glasses, coins, a stack of plates and beer mats are on the table in front of them. Betty Britton wears the red gown with silver braid she has in the wider view of the same evening. The coven marked his leaving for a stay in America. Bexhill Museum item 066. Print from the Bexhill Observer photographic archive at Bexhill Museum. Shown in UNSEEN: The Alex Sanders Archive at Bexhill Museum, Part One, The Town That Was Already Listening (9 August 2026), presented by Julian Porter of Bexhill Museum and hosted by Sharon Day for Alexandrian Witchcraft.
