'Witchcraft damages for Polanski', Daily Mail, 14 October 1976

Daily Mail, 14 October 1976, page 11. Report of a High Court libel settlement. Roman Polanski had sued over an article by Maxine Sanders in the News of the World in April 1975 which, with a photograph, had suggested that he and Sharon Tate met the Sanders during the making of a film about witchcraft. His counsel told the court that Mr Polanski was not in the photograph and had no connection with the film. Nominal damages of one hundred pounds were to be paid by the newspaper and Mrs Sanders to the Cousteau Society, with costs, and an apology was made in court.
