'Witches prepare for hallowe'en', Bexhill Observer, 30 October 1976

Bexhill Observer, 30 October 1976. Seasonal feature by Sarah Hicks on Hallowe'en customs, with quotations from Alex Sanders, 'acknowledged king of the witches, who now lives in the Old Town'. He describes Hallowe'en as the end of the witches' year, 'a time of happiness for witches', and the paper reports that he would travel to Epping Forest in Essex to celebrate with other witches. The rest of the piece deals with pumpkin lamps, Hallowe'en fires and apple-pip divination. The photograph, captioned as Sanders taking part in 'an ancient witches' celebration', is the print of 8 May 1974 shown as item 131, reused. The piece carries no account of a visit to the temple.
