Photograph, 8 May 1974. Alex Sanders, in a dark robe, bends over the altar in the temple at Chantry Cottage holding a dagger point down over a candle, while a second person with long hair stands close behind him with hands clasped around his. On the altar chest are flowers, candles, dishes, a scourge and a wand; bookshelves and a stone fireplace surround. The museum lists the print as 'Alex Sanders at altar in Chantry Cottage'. It was taken for the paper's coverage of May 1974 and was reused, uncredited to its date, as the photograph with 'Witches prepare for hallowe'en' on 30 October 1976, item 130. The second person is not named in any source.
