About this item

Photograph, 27 October 1977. Betty Britton and Alex Sanders stand before the altar in the temple at Chantry Cottage, both looking upward, Sanders with his right arm raised. Behind them the altar wall has been dressed with Gothic tracery panels, foil, ivy and flowers around a statue of Christ with a sword propped beside it; candles, the mounted egg and a smaller statue stand on the altar chest, and the ring binder rests open on its stand at the right. The museum lists the print as 'Betty and Alex in the temple', numbered 34. Taken at the Hallowe'en preview reported by the Bexhill Observer on 29 October 1977, which noted television cameras were present. Not among the pictures published. Byline: Jimmy Burke.
