About this item
Bexhill Observer, December 1978 or 1979. The cutting carries no printed date; the archive transcription gives 21 December 1978 and the scan's filename 21 December 1979. A short news item reporting that a member of the Bexhill coven, which the paper calls 'one of Britain's leading white magic covens', was transitioning. The Observer took its account from a Sunday newspaper to which the person had spoken, and the person declined to comment to the Observer, saying they had already spoken to one paper. The item closes with the paper's own assertion about how the transition would affect the person's standing within the coven. The photograph reused is item 135, from the Hallowe'en preview of October 1977. The person is not named in this entry.
Bexhill Museum item 138. Bexhill Observer cutting held in the Bexhill Observer archive at Bexhill Museum.
Shown in UNSEEN: The Alex Sanders Archive at Bexhill Museum, Part Two, What the Town Did With It (26 August 2026), presented by Julian Porter of Bexhill Museum and hosted by Sharon Day for Alexandrian Witchcraft.
