About this item
Letter, 28 October 1981, three pages. The first is a covering note on the printed letterhead of the Church of Occult Science, Occult Centre, 110 Lewisham Way, London SE14, addressed to Ben Findon at the Bexhill-on-Sea Observer and signed A. Collins, enclosing photocopies of the letter received from the Bexhill Council of Churches (item 145) and of the Church's reply. Pages two and three are that reply, marked 'Without Prejudice', to the Rev G. T. Bryant at St Augustine's Vicarage. It states at length what the Church of Occult Science is and is not, then says its committee had decided to grant the Council's request and 'terminate our plans' for a Bexhill centre on 26 December 1981, reserving the right to reopen if anyone claimed a victory. Signed Daniel Hussey, 'Magus Elect', copied to the Bexhill Observer and Bexhill News.
Bexhill Museum item 142 to 144. Bexhill Observer cutting held in the Bexhill Observer archive at Bexhill Museum.
Shown in UNSEEN: The Alex Sanders Archive at Bexhill Museum, Part Two, What the Town Did With It (26 August 2026), presented by Julian Porter of Bexhill Museum and hosted by Sharon Day for Alexandrian Witchcraft.
