Bexhill Observer, 17 October 1981. Alex Sanders, described as leader of 'the White Brotherhood community in the Old Town', responds to the occult shop controversy, saying he had nothing to do with the Church of the Occult Science but that 'the reflection comes back on me'. He adds that there had not been a coven in Bexhill for eighteen months, and advises against occult centres 'that have not proved their worth in society'. A spokesman for the Society of Metaphysicians accuses the men behind the Church of 'prostituting the whole field for personal gain'. The same cutting carries 'A call to arms on occult shop', 'Heads have misgivings' (local headmasters) and 'No sex shop', reporting that Conegate had shelved its Bexhill plan. Bexhill Museum item 147.
