'Witch king weds bride four', Bexhill Observer, 23 December 1982

Bexhill Observer, 23 December 1982. Report, with photograph, that Alex Sanders, 56, described as chief of the Old Town Coven, had married the concert pianist Gillian Sicka, 39, at Hastings Register Office on the Monday, 'with a witches' ring of knotted gold strands'. The paper calls it his fourth marriage and says he had eight children by three previous marriages; other accounts count Gillian as his third wife, and nobody wrote in to correct the paper. The bride's four children attended; none of Sanders' children did. The couple left in separate cars, the bride to her home in St David's Road and Sanders to a celebration at the Bell Hotel. The paper recalls that he made national headlines in the mid seventies when 'cursed from Stonehenge by his third wife, Maxine'. The cutting carries a handwritten date, 17.12.82, which does not match the museum's date or the Monday wedding. Bexhill Museum item 153.
