Bexhill Observer, 28 February 1985. Front-page report by Patrick Balchin under the strapline 'King of the witches spells doom to show'. Gillian Sanders had quit as musical director of Bexhill Light Operatic and Dramatic Society's June production of 'Chu Chin Chow' at the De La Warr Pavilion after a row over a song being cut. Alex Sanders told the paper the production was cursed and that Gillian had told the producer so; Gillian refused to say what the curse was: 'if you want to find out you'll have to join the coven'. Producer Irene Spillett said the disagreements had been resolved and she did not think the curse would stop the show.
