Bexhill Observer, 1 August 1985. Page 8 feature by John May on a day's filming with a BBC Wales crew making an item on witchcraft in the eighties for the magazine programme 'Week In, Week Out', fronted by Bob Humphrys and produced by Mark Killick. Filming began at the De La Warr Pavilion with Gillian Sanders at the piano, moved to the beach, where Alex and Gillian Sanders in full robes performed a sea ritual watched by sunbathers, and ended in Sanders' flat in Hastings, where he performed a rite, went into what he described as a semi-trance, and was interviewed with Gillian and 'priest Derek Taylor'. Sanders told the crew of a descent from Owen Glendower; the claim is his. Photographs captioned 'Invoking the Spirit of the Sea' and 'Gillian plays to the Camera'. The museum's list gives the headline as 'Bewitched! Alex has the BBC crew spellbound'.
