For England's prosperity. When she is your future Queen, seal that future, by allowing her to wear the Order of the Garter beneath bridal robes.
Something Old
Something New
Something Borrowed
Something Blue
Virbius Rex
(King of Witches)
I toast your first child. A son
Alex Sanders
Notes:
- "Order of the Garter" is a real, historic British order of chivalry, the most senior in the UK honours system, founded by Edward III in 1348.
- "Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue" is a well-known traditional English wedding rhyme.
- "Virbius Rex" — Virbius is a minor Roman deity associated with the sacred grove of Diana at Nemi (referenced in Sir James Frazer's "The Golden Bough," a significant influence on 20th-century Wiccan thought). Alex signing as "Virbius Rex" (King Virbius) alongside "King of Witches" is a deliberate classical/Frazerian reference rather than an invented title.
- This document is undated. The context (a royal wedding, toasting a "first child, a son") is consistent with the 1981 wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer (whose first child, Prince William, was born in 1982), but this is speculative, however no date confirms it.
Authorship note:
This document is explicitly a draft letter from Alex Sanders in his own voice, addressed to Prince Charles and signed "Alex Sanders." Straightforward single authorship: Alex Sanders.
