Alex, Further words I cannot find, nor any explanation all things I find of you remind what is this consternation? Though there be points we disagree on? Still one thing I can't ignore Though argue much and quarrel we the feeling tis just strengthened more. I don't know just why or how. This feeling I am stuck with. All I know just here and now King, which I have to be with From Beauregarde. Notes: - This is the first document in the collection presenting Beauregarde's own words directly, rather than being mentioned by others. It adds emotional context to his appearances elsewhere: mow2402i1.jpg and mow2407i1.jpg describe him as "hard pressed at the time and thinking of leaving the area," and MoW_Doc6693-6694.pdf (Batch 2) records Alex being told "you must tell him not to concern himself with Beauregarde... The Temple is beset by many perils and dangers." This poem, expressing conflicted but strong feelings toward Alex ("King"), is consistent with that picture of a difficult, emotionally fraught relationship or period. - Addresses Alex as "King" — consistent with Alex's public identification as "King of the Witches." Authorship note: Straightforward single-author document — a poem signed "From Beauregarde," addressed to Alex. No diarist framing or mixed voice present.
