About this item
Photograph, 2 July 1974. Betty Britton stands in the temple at Chantry Cottage in a shining dark robe, holding out a white cord that runs taut across the frame, a plaited cord with tasselled ends hanging from her other hand. She looks directly at the camera. Behind her a young woman in a pale robe with a braided neckband and an ankh on a cord watches, her hands at her sides. The brick fireplace and the edge of the altar are at the left, and the small iron cauldron, still smoking, stands on the floor at the foot of the picture. The museum lists the print as 'Betty Britton, Chantry Cottage'.
Bexhill Museum item 077. Print from the Bexhill Observer photographic archive at Bexhill Museum.
Shown in UNSEEN: The Alex Sanders Archive at Bexhill Museum, Part One, The Town That Was Already Listening (9 August 2026), presented by Julian Porter of Bexhill Museum and hosted by Sharon Day for Alexandrian Witchcraft.
