'Spells cast on poll tax councillors', Bexhill Observer, 22 March 1990

Bexhill Observer, 22 March 1990, under the strapline 'White witch ritual on Galley Hill'. Report that spells were to be put on councillors and government ministers at a ceremony against the poll tax at Galley Hill the following night. The paper describes a ritual binding effigies of councillors and politicians with string so that any harm they caused the people of Rother would rebound on them. Kevin Carlyon of the Covenant of Earth Magic told the paper 'There is no cursing or ill wishing on them', invited the public to come at half past seven, and said the openness showed the witches had nothing to hide. He is quoted as saying similar rituals brought success at Fairlight. A photograph is captioned 'Kevin Carlyon and his wife Ingrid', with the word witches written on the cutting by hand.
